Privacy is a big issue for Internet users most of whom will be very reluctant to register their name, address and other details without direct and specific comfort on the preservation of their privacy. Companies need to :-
- Specify the use to which information will be put.
- Reassure that there will be an opportunity for the user to remove the details at some point.
- Detail whether "cookies" are being used. Cookies are recognition templates left in the user's hard drive to facilitate future reconnections.
- Confirmation information will not be sold or passed to third parties and result in unsolicited junk mail.
- State that the Internet is global and that it is not possible to predict routes of information and total security of transmitted information.
